Printing Methods

Presently products found in Funk'n Groovin™ stores (Shirt Shack & Sign Shack ) are made using one  of the following  techniques. The techniques used are as follows:

Cad-Cut Model

A cad-cut design usually originates from a single color scaleable graphic (vector graphics) used for contour cutting. We make no suggestion of endorsement or sponsorship and designs are printed exclusively for you. This is the only type of design that you'll find in the Sign Shack Store.  We  also have a wide selection  of these designs also  in our Shirt Shack Store.  The graphic is first sized & then the film or vinyl is computer cut & weeded.

FOR CLOTHING-
The film material used on clothing is an exceptional product which is superior to screen printing.  It is a highly opaque super thin (150 microns) colored transfer film which when printed has a very soft hand (feel).    It is a wonderful product. It is washable, dry cleanable, fade resistant and it prints on any colored fabric.  Its limitation is that very fine detail cannot be accomplished, gradations of color & shading is impossible & usually you're limited to one solid color for the print. It comes in some very nice opaque colors, glitter, neon & chrome-like.

FOR SIGNS-DECALS Cad-cut  is also used in our Sign Shack Store.  The graphic you choose is first sized & then a high performance vinyl film is computer cut & weeded.  We then place a pre-mask tape on the sign/decal to allow for easy installation.   Our long lasting vinyl signs/decals are usable both indoors & out and easily stick to most smooth surfaces.   Color selection consists of the following (additional colors available on quotation basis)

Black White Red Vibrant Blue Green Orange

Terra Cotta Soft Pink Yellow Medium Blue Sea foam Kelly

Plastisol Model

Plastisol is a type of ink that has been silk-screened onto a transfer paper & then heat-pressed onto the garment.  These  usually stand up better than silk-screening directly onto the fabric because the inks are pressed right into the fabric at very high temperatures.  Some of these designs print on light colored garments only, some on dark colored garments only & some will print on all colors.  It depends on how the transfers were made & what type of ink was used. The color range on these are as simple as one spot color to dazzling full color designs.   Also included in this model (at this time) are  Litho/Glitter transfers; these are those shiny and/or glittery graphics that the gals like so much. They are usually a smaller design that will print on all colors.

Laser Model

Laser transfers use a translucent ink so it can only be printed on very light colors. This process is great for doing custom pictures/logo's on shirts and mouse pads.  It is a cost effective way of doing very detailed or multi colored graphics handling color gradations and shading without a problem.   The best choice for full colored prints in small numbers (minimum 1) on white or very light colored garments.

Dye Sublimation Model

Dye-sublimation is a process that allows for printing on t-shirts, clock faces, clip boards, name tags, coffee mugs, & many other products so long as the substrate is white.  All these blanks have a special polyester coating on them.  Dye sublimation ink has the characteristic of migrating from the carrier paper right into the polyester coating on the substrate when pressed at a high temperature. No picture or design is too fine or detailed.  This is a process that produces great products.
